The Originals season 5 episode 9: Hope’s magic and a possible death
As for another one, it was rather simple: Was it possible for Elijah to get some sort of atonement? Even though he wasn’t completely of his own mind for much of what happened to Hayley, that doesn’t mean she is ready to forgive him. As a matter of fact, it looked like she was ready to magically rip him limb from limb until Klaus showed up at the right moment in order to stop it.
For most of this episode, we would consider it to be a story of reflection as Elijah had to figure out a way to come to grips with many of his memories. That’s not easy for a man like him, one who remains an incredibly tortured soul. He doesn’t have Hayley anymore, he left Antoinette, and ultimately, his family is all he has.
As for what’s happening with Hope and Klaus, he had to figure out a way to comfort her in the aftermath of the incident with Elijah. She has all sorts of rage bubbling up inside of her, but the reality (messed-up as it is) is that Klaus is probably one of the perfect people who knows how to cope with this. There are very few people in this world who continuous manage to cause chaos and despair quite like Klaus. As bad of a father as Klaus has been at times
The battle for the streets
In the midst of everything else, the factions squared off near the end of the episode. Were the werewolves worth dying for? That’s just one question that Vincent was asked as we inched a little closer to warfare. There was no real battle tonight, but instead Vincent found himself now in danger after choosing a side. That’s bad both for himself and Ivy, and really for his own soul.
The end of the episode featured Vincent on the run, knowing that a certain toast to piece on the other side of town was actually not going to be just that. He realized the real point of the conversation, and it was to see where Vincent stood to execute a larger plan … one that led to the death of Ivy in the closing minutes.
Happy news amidst the tragedy
As it turns out, Freya and Keelin are officially engaged! In the midst of everything that happened over the course of this episode, we still got a chance to see Freya propose, and offering up a rather-sweet ring in the process.
