In this article, let’s take a look at Steve Arienta, a 40-year old former undercover cop from New Jersey who is probably going to be sold as the Derrick of this season … even though there’s a good chance he could be the Glenn instead.

Houseguest comparison – He claims (surprisingly) that he loves Mike Boogie, who he apparently found immensely entertaining. As someone who was actually pro-Mike Boogie in All-Stars, this could be promising … though Mike Boogie doesn’t quite play as well in 2018. He’s really more, as mentioned, the love child of Derrick and Glenn.

Have they seen the show before? – Given that he actually referenced someone from before Big Brother 16 (which CBS seems to love so much that they’ve made everyone in sequester watch it in the past), there’s a chance he’s at least a longtime casual fan.

Fun facts – Apparently he requires a bath every night, which is both strange and also kind of quirky. He’s going to hate being a have-not, isn’t he? He also cares about his family immensely (he mentions them a ton in his bio) and was called “The Hammer” in college, which makes us think he’s an extra from Old School. (Important rule: If you come into the house with your own nickname YOU ARE TRYING TOO HARD.) He’s the oldest person on this season and that is incredibly depressing.

Early assessment – Steve seems fairly endearing and he probably thinks that his undercover experience is going to help him. We anticipate 100 confessionals about this in the three weeks he’s going to be on the show. We give him that because of his experience, but he’s not going to have the oddball charm Kevin did. Expect the trend of older contestants going home to return to form with Steve.
