How will Supergirl season 4 handle less Jeremy Jordan?

Winn Schott

If you’re a part of the Supergirl community, there is a good chance that you have already heard the news: Jeremy Jordan will not be a series regular for the upcoming fourth season.

What does this mean? It’s complicated. Reports have him returning as Winn Schott in some form for the upcoming batch of episodes, but “recurring” can mean many different things. It could be similar to Floriana Lima, in which he appears in the first few episodes only to then fall off the map entirely; or, it’s possible that it could be more like Amy Jackson, who has appeared across much of the season.

Yet, we feel more inclined to think that this is going to be similar to Lima or Tyler Hoechlin in season 2, mostly in that it makes more sense for Jordan to do episodes in batches and then move on to do other things. The Broadway community is always going to welcome him, and we’re sure that there are many other shows that would, as well. It’s too early to know whether or not he is leaving of his own accord, or if this was a creative decision to move away from Winn. We know that we haven’t seen too much of him lately, and that’s a bummer given that he’s probably a top 5 Arrowverse character for us, someone who has overcome a lot and has shown time and time again that he is a worthy hero despite having powers.

So how will Supergirl choose to write out this character? There are certainly many questions worth pondering over when it comes to that subject, with our personal hope being that Winn simply gets an opportunity elsewhere to make a mark so that the door is always open for more of him. It’s possible that the character gets killed off eventually (much as we hate to say it), mostly because Supergirl has been fairly lucky when it comes to surviving major characters, at least in comparison to the other shows in the Arrowverse.

Hopefully, some answers are going to be coming up on Monday night’s finale.
