Jeremy Jordan is leaving Supergirl as a series regular, but the good news is this: He’s not going to be gone entirely.
According to TVLine, Jordan (who was a regular through the first three seasons of the show) is going to recur through the upcoming season. Executive producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller had the following to say on the subject:
“We love Jeremy, and even though he’s [not going to be around full-time], we’re not saying goodbye to Winn at all … We’re already breaking big stories for him right now for the fall, and I think the fans will be excited to see what he has coming up.”
Hopefully, there are going to be some good opportunities to feature Winn in the early going, especially since now, there are really no guarantees that he will be around for the long-term. Winn’s been one of our favorite characters, and our fear now is that this will turn into a Floriana Lima situation where we see him in the early going and then not too much after that. He hasn’t really had all that much to do really ever since Laurie Metcalf was featured on the show, but we certainly didn’t want to see him go. This could still give him opportunities to go off and pursue a few other things.
If Winn does ever leave for a good stretch of time, fingers crossed there is at least some sort of way in which to properly send him off. The character deserves that after being such an enormous part of the series for so long.
In some ways, we were wondering about this news after writing the story that Brainiac-5 was going to become a larger part of the show next season. After all, the two characters occupy fairly similar roles within the group.
