Absentia season 2: Three things we’d love to see more of

At the moment, there is no official Absentia season 2 renewal — yet, all signs seem to point towards it happening, including Canada already planning it for the 2018-19 season. With that in mind, we’re moving forward with the same thinking. There’s so many directions that the Stana Katic series could go moving forward and with that, we want to continue pondering over that!

Within this piece today, we’re offering up three specific things that we would love to see more of as we get into the latest batch of episodes — we got glimpses of them within the first season, but there is absolutely so much more room for growth now.

1. How the setting influences the world – We got a good sense of this with some of the creepy forests and the various nooks and crannies that were designed to be Boston. Even though production took place in Bulgaria, they did a good job replicating the city while also giving it some more unique flair. It would be great to learn more about Emily and the other characters’ history within the city, why it matters to them, and also how much of it shapes their identity. Any excuse to get these characters playing around in this unique sandbox.

2. How the FBI is structured within the area – How different will it be with Emily back with them, and how will she adapt? We’d love to get a greater understanding of what that environment is like, especially for Emily and Nick potentially working together once more. It’s certainly not the same partnership as it once was, and it definitely feels like a work in progress.

3. How Emily becomes readjusted to life in general – We know that there’s going to be a great mystery at the heart of the show, just as we’re sure there will be many moments for Katic to shine. What we want to get more of in the midst of this is precisely how different the world is for her now versus what it was like six years ago. The more you think about, the more you can easily realize how much technology has changed and how different things like social media have made things in terms of how we communicate with one another.
