Take Two: Three reasons to watch ABC’s new summer crime series
If you read CarterMatt often, you know that some of the shows that most appeal to us are the lighthearted cop procedurals — think along the lines of a Bones, a Castle, or a Psych. These are shows that package together something familiar and then also find a way to inject something fun, usually by means of some of the performances.
This brings us to our list of three reasons as to why you should be excited for this show…
1. Rachel Bilson and Eddie Cibrian – You’ve got two very-fun actors at the center of what should be a very fun show. Rachel plays Sam Swift, a woman who was at one point one of the biggest stars on TV — that is, before a bender led to her being in rehab. She’s researching her next role and with that, she decides to start shadowing Eddie Valetik (Cibrian), a notable private investigator. These two are going to build chemistry and, more than likely, get into some fun hijinks.
2. The showrunners at the top – Take Two is the creation of executive producers Andrew W. Marlowe and Terri Edda Miller, who were both known for their exceptional work on Castle. Anytime that you can enter a series knowing that you’ve got a great team at the top, it inspires hope for the future in the long-term.
3. The character development over time – It already feels destined that Sam and Eddie are going to become a will-they-or-won’t-they couple, and we’ve learned over time that this is a super-successful formula. Look at Booth and Brennan, Lucifer and Chloe, Castle and Beckett, and so many more pairs over the years. There is so much fun and room for growth with these two as the show goes along. If ‘shipping crime-solvers is your thing, you are going to have it here.
