Is Goliath renewed for season 3 at Amazon? What’s coming up
For now, though, let’s get the information you most want to know out of the way — there is no firm decision on a Goliath season 3 just yet. The series just premiered and while you’d want to imagine that it has a good shot of coming back for more episodes, we don’t foresee this being a decision that the folks over at Amazon want to hurry up and make. They’ll give a show a chance to see how it performs and if it ends up being a strong performer for them.
Do we think that Goliath is aided by having a perennial awards-show favorite in Billy Bob Thornton leading the cast? Absolutely, but we do think that this is also a show that will have to conquer airing in the summer at a time in which there are people who could forget about it. There’s also some uncertainty here given some of the changes at the top of Amazon, with Jennifer Salke now leading Amazon Studios. She’s made it a priority to go for more mainstream fare to boost the service’s subscriber numbers, and that may mean cutting some awards-show favorites if they are not drawing in substantial viewership. Since Amazon doesn’t release any of their viewership numbers publicly, it’s really not known precisely how well some of their series are faring.
For the time being, we’d say that we are cautiously optimistic when it comes to whether or not Goliath is going to be renewed for another season. While we definitely do think that it has the potential to be around for a rather-long time, at the same time you can never be too confident with a series that isn’t necessarily generating a ton of publicity. We know that, at least in terms of talent and content, there’s certainly much more story that could be told. We’ll just have to see if that happens.
