Timeless season 3 debate: Should Emma be the Big Bad?

The truth of the matter here is that, unfortunately, there is still no word on a Timeless season 3. It feels as though a decision is going to be coming in the near future, but while we wait on that, why not discuss what’s going on when it comes to the show’s story?

One of the things that is exciting about the way that season 2 ended it is that it set the stage for a pretty big transformation when it comes to the evil organization Rittenhouse. Based on what we saw in the finale, it seemed as though Emma could now be the new person in charge. That’s interesting for so many different reasons, starting of course with the fact that she does not come from the same traditional bloodline as many other Rittenhouse leaders in the past. With that, of course, could come a new objective. Will we see Emma continue to try to operate and change history in the same way as Nicholas did before her? That’s unlikely, but her specific objectives remains unclear.

This is a main reason as to why we would love to see Emma more in the power position moving in the season 3. There are few things that say quite as much about a person as giving them a lot of power and the ability to run wild with it. All of a sudden, Emma now has the ability to control and manipulate the timeline in a way that she never had before. She can make the decisions, and that may lead to us learning a significantly larger amount about her past, including some of the chain reaction that led to her having such a close association with Rittenhouse in the first place. The more that we learn about Emma in the faster we learn it, the more compelling she is going to be in the end.

Is there a chance that she could turn good? We don’t think that she is purely evil as a character by any means, so there is something intriguing about that possibility.

Beyond just Emma, it would be rather interesting if Timeless season 3 were to introduce another villain into the mix, someone who operates independently from Rittenhouse just to give the show a new coat of paint and a completely different sort of adversary to try to understand. Once you enter a third season, that is of course the perfect time to start shaking things up and ways that leave your jaw hanging on the floor.
