Sweetbitter season 2 renewal: Will it happen on Starz following finale?

Sweetbitter season 2 renewal

Following the conclusion of the season 1 finale, is it possible, that we will get a Sweetbitter season 2 renewal over at Starz? That’s something we are excited to dive into more here!

When it comes to the story of the series, it definitely does feel like there is more that can be told. The entirety of the source material is not covered in this first season and beyond just that, we are talking here about a show that old had six episodes from the start. That means that there is a significant amount of story still out there that can be explored in the weeks to come, and we absolutely do hope that there are many different opportunities to properly explore some of that further.

However, we do think that the show’s viewership is somewhat of a cause for concern right now, given that Sweetbitter season 1 drew only slightly above 150,000 live viewers an episode. Is this the only way in which viewers can watch the show? Hardly. The majority of the viewership for Starz series comes after the fact through a wide array of means, and we absolutely do think that the same could be said here. Yet, with that said if the viewership for this show follows proportionally that of other Starz series, there is no guarantee that a Sweetbitter season 2 renewal is going to happen at all. It would be nice if it does, but we’re not exactly in a place where we have any particular expectations.

At the end of the day, though, what matters to the premium cable network is money more so than anything else. If there are a lot of book fans out there who are subscribing to Starz specifically for the purpose of watching this show, there may be enough of a reason to bring it back on the basis of that alone. Sometimes, viewership for premium shows is difficult to gauge; take, for example, Twin Peaks on Showtime. That show didn’t exactly bring in huge numbers, but it did post some impressive subscriber figures for its network. That is enough to make it possible that the series finds another way to continue in the future.
