More Vikings work still being done; Katheryn Winnick working behind the scenes

Vikings season 6 renewal

What’s going on when it comes to History’s Vikings at the moment? That’s certainly a good question, given that few networks have been as slow to release content that is already wrapped up.

Want some evidence of that? Just take, for example, the fact that the final ten episodes of season 5 were completed ages ago and we still don’t have a whole lot of news about them. It’s been a long wait to start to have more of a sense as to what’s coming and unfortunately, signs point towards that wait continuing. Hopefully, the next ten episodes are coming out later this year.

If it serves as some sort of solace, at least know that series star Katheryn Winnick is still working on some scenes behind the scenes. You can see proof of that by clicking on the Instagram link in the tweet below — she may be working on doing some ADR for some upcoming episodes, but whether they are for the second half of season 5 or season 6 is still unclear. That’s one part of the craziness associated with waiting for more Vikings at the moment — there are multiple seasons to keep track of at the moment. There’s not too much known about season 6 just yet beyond the fact that Winnick is directing an episode, but the idea of this is exciting in its own right. Beyond that, it is of course our assumption that the upcoming episodes are going to be every bit as exciting and epic as some of the stories that we’ve seen to date … mostly because it really wouldn’t be Vikings unless there was that constant fear that major characters were on the cusp of death.

No matter when the second half of season 5 first airs, our hope is to see season 6 by the time we get around to 2019. As for whether or not that happens … well, that’s up to History. If nothing else, let’s hope for a little more information over the coming weeks on the subject of the series’ future.
