The Claws season 2 premiere is coming up Sunday night on TNT, and oddly there’s something about the classic Spider-Man quote of “with great power comes great responsibility” that makes sense here. Desna found herself over the course of season 1 accumulating more power and influence than ever before in her life. She’s found a way to fill her coffers in ways that go beyond just operating a nail salon, and that means many wonderful things when it comes to her personal life.
Yet, there are limitations to the sort of victory dance she can do given the way in which she came about said earnings. Her activities are going to come home to roost, given the fact that once you start to get into the criminal life, it’s something that is almost impossible to escape. You don’t get to suddenly just blink your eyes and pretend as though everything is somehow better instantaneously.
The two sneak peeks below give us a good opportunity to see what the new iteration of Desna is all about, both in terms of running her business and also bossing around Uncle Daddy and some of his people. Think of this as a very different dynamic than anything that you saw over the course of season 1.
As for the second sneak peek, one of the biggest things that you can see in there is how Polly is coping with the new state of the operations — let’s just say that it’s not going well. With her history, it’s a little bit understandable that she would not want to dive back into this life at the same level as some other characters. With that in mind, it’s the responsibility of Desna and company to calm her down … which is of course so much easier said than done. (How they do choose to do it, however, is incredibly entertaining and certainly worth a watch.)
If you love Claws, season 2 is more of the same. If you’re not as familiar with the series and want to just dive in as it’s happening, be prepared for one of the most intriguing, gender-bending shows that is out there.
