Take Two: Why to be excited over Castle creator’s new show

As most of you are aware ABC has a new series premiering on June 21 titled Take Two. The series is the newest creation created by Andrew W. Marlowe and Terri Edda Miller, the creators behind the fan-obsessed series Castle starring Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion. The series was a huge success and gathered a massive and dedicated fanbase who made the show a popular one on Twitter. Now about 2 years after the cancellation of Castle (it’s a long story) Marlowe and Miller (MilMar) are back with a series that fans will immediately see is Castle backwards.

Now many fans might immediately see this and roll their eyes, but we are extremely excited by this new show even though it holds similarities to Castle. Ever since Castle ended we have been searching for a show that can fill the gap, and while many shows have come close, none have satisfied us. So when we heard that MilMar was developing a new show we knew that if any show could fill the hole it would be Take Two. 

The premise stated that the series would follow a former star, Sam Swift, of a hit cop series fresh out of rehab, who teams up with a private investigator, Eddie, to solve crimes, with Sam doing the job as research for a potential comeback role. Again this rings a bell, but it also sends our hearts beating faster because it reminds us of all the feelings we had while watching Castle. We are reminded of the sexual tension we loved to see play out on our screens, and we are brought back to interacting with other fans who were fangirling over the same scene as us. We miss this because we don’t see that kind of interaction among fans anymore. Those were the good ole days, and if anyone can bring that back it’s going to be MilMar.

Overall, we are going to give this new show a chance to become our newest obsession. Sure we won’t see Stana Katic and her hair-porn that fans obsessed over on Twitter, and we won’t see Beckett and Castle go back and forth. However, we will see two new characters who are sure to take us on a new romantic journey, and although we can guess that Eddie and Sam will get together, we look forward to how MilMar drag out the tension.

We have high hopes for this show and are counting down the days.
