Magnum PI video takes you behind the scenes with Jay Hernandez

Magnum PIAt the moment, CBS seems to have pretty high hopes for their upcoming revival of Magnum PIIt has a pretty pristine timeslot on Monday night and to go along with that and an executive producer in Peter M. Lenkov who knows a thing or two about developing hits. For many years, he has done that with Hawaii Five-0 and now MacGyver. Those shows both have potentially a rather long ahead, so why not go ahead and have another show join them in the mix?

While the video below doesn’t offer too much more in the way of new footage about the series, it does give you a behind-the-scenes tease regarding two of the main characters in Thomas Magnum (Jay Hernandez) and Juliet Higgins (Perdita Weeks). The cast members speak briefly about their characters as well as their individual hopes for the upcoming series, which is meant to be a reimagining of the classic series. There are many elements of the original that are there, but also just enough that’s new to bring in a new audience.

We imagine that the fan reaction to this show will be rather similar to the initial reaction to MacGyver — at first, there will be divided reactions to the series just because there is an emotional attachment to the original show. However, over time we think more viewers will start to embrace the tone and the new versions of the characters — after all, this isn’t meant to take away the legacy of the original. It honors that show in its own way while also making sure that it does something new.

Of course, we imagine that we’re going to have so much more to share in the coming weeks when it comes to Magnum PI, so be on the lookout for it! (We’re going to be crossing our fingers for some crossover news.)
