Shameless season 9 premiere date revealed at Showtime via creative teaser
Have you ever heard people say that a project is “their baby,” whether it be a show, a movie, or something else of that variety? That seems to be the overall aesthetic of the premiere-date announcement video below, which perceives the show as a baby being brought into the world. It’s a fun, nostalgic look at the show that also serves as a thank-you — it’s funny, but not in the typically way that Shameless is typically funny. If you do love the series, we do think that this is absolutely recommended viewing.
In terms of the aforementioned season 9 premiere date, what we can tell you is that new episodes are airing starting on Sunday, September 9 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time — in other words, this is coming earlier than we thought. Season 8 premiered a little bit later in the year during 2017; more so than the premiere date, though, we just want to see some great story. One of the challenges that a show like Shameless is going to run into is trying to find a way to balance out character development and being the same sort of show viewers love. It’s rather demented in some ways, given that a big part of the Shameless that viewers love is the one that features many characters perpetually a mess. Yet, eventually you do need to see some of these people grow up — that’s rather necessary for growth and for building the show towards some sort of eventual conclusion. For now, we should point out that there are no indications that Shameless season 9 is going to be the final season on Showtime.
