The Hills revival a possibility over at MTV
According to a new report from Us Weekly, the network is considering whether or not to pick up a new version of the classic reality franchise, which aired for many years and became for many out there a guilty pleasure. There’s obviously some appeal in TV revivals these days, but doing this one would be a little bit harder than getting the Jersey Shore cast back together.
For one, Lauren Conrad doesn’t seem to be interested, and to go along with that Lo Bosworth is also moving forward. Conrad in particular is one of the biggest stars for the series, and with that in mind, not having her would be a much bigger blow than Jersey Shore not getting Sammi back. (She was important, but she wasn’t considered to be one of the breakout stars of the franchise a la a Snooki or The Situation.)
As for some other possible cast members, MTV could look at Kristin Cavallari, Whitney Port, Audrina Patridge, Spencer and Heidi Pratt, and others. We do think that the ratings would be pretty big for the first episode just on the basis of curiosity alone — beyond that, who knows?
If we were the network, we do think that there’s some merit in bringing the show back almost as an experiment. Put it on the air for around eight to ten episodes, see how it fares, and determine from there if there is more of a long-term future. If the show can sustain impressive numbers from the premiere on out, there could be a few more seasons still in the tank. Ultimately, we never thought we’d get anymore of The Hills at all, so the idea of getting more is at least an intriguing possibility.
