America’s Got Talent review: Christina Wells, Mochi, Us the Duo, & audition show #2

America's Got Talent season 13

Welcome to the second audition show for America’s Got Talent season 13! We’re back with yet another review of most of the talent, and we will be doing so LIVE as the show goes along. Be sure to refresh this page often for some more updates every step of the way.

Tonight’s episode started off with Simon Cowell driving a monster truck; yet, we imagine that there is more destruction coming before these two hours are over.

Yumbo Dump – This was so incredibly weird and pointless. The entire premise of this act is watching two guys make noise out of each other’s bodies. They’ve been on Asia’s Got Talent in the past and while it’s incredibly stupid, we’d totally watch it again. We do think that their personality is the selling point just as much as the actual talent.

Us, the Duo – Why do America’s Got Talent judges hate original music so much? We actually thought that this was a very good audition despite what Howie Mandel thought about. They had real musicality and vocal range — we do think that they’ll do great with another show with the proper music.

Lilly Wilker – She’s super-endearing and we understand why the judges like her — she’s a funny kid from a farm who does animal impressions. There’s zero chance she wins this whole show but, for now, we’re super-glad that she got this little moment on TV.

Fratelli Rossi – These guys have circus performing in their blood! They’ve been doing it for a long time. Unfortunately, at one point during their act there was a mistake, but they recovered from it and continued on with their high-stakes acrobatics. There’s nothing that will freak you out and raise the stakes quite like a tumble. These guys are, ultimately, incredible at what they do.

Christina Wells – She’s a singer from Houston, Texas who told a story about how she was rejected in the past because of her weight. She’s an incredible singer who has a booming, almost-theatrical quality to her voice. We don’t think that she’s necessarily pop radio but that doesn’t matter.

Da Republik – This was a dance crew from the Dominican Republic who put their heart and soul into the routine. It’s that passion that separated them from many of the other crews that we see on the show — there was so much content, so much personality, and so much fun from start to finish.

Aaron Crow – He’s terrifying, intense, and he nearly cut off Howie Mandel’s head off with a sword. He was fantastic and you can see our video take for our audition below.

Alex Hooper – The problem here isn’t that he’s a roast comic. It’s that he wasn’t a very good one.

Mochi – He is a visual artist who is basically able to, through the use of one simple device (it feels like yo-yo meets juggling), tell an excellent story. We feel like it’s even cooler live than it was on television, but it was pretty darn cool on television.

Ganas con Canas – They were an elderly dancing duo that was fun, but also raunchy in a way we NEVER expected. They were funny enough to advance and that’s it.

Michael Ketterer – Our final performer tonight, and Simon Cowell’s golden buzzer. You can read more about him over at the link here.
