Shadowhunters cast react to cancellation news; possible future homes

As we’re still reacting to the news of Shadowhunters and the cancellation, the cast is clearly doing the same thing. It’s a shock to see that a show with this big a social audience is ending after just three seasons, but sometimes, having a ton of Twitter traffic doesn’t correlate into success. Television is a business at the end of the day, and the end of the show now is representative of the fact that clearly, Shadowhunters isn’t generating the sort of money that made everyone happy with the current arrangement.

So what are some of the most-likely homes now that could be the perfect arrangement for it? We’ve seen a lot of different possibilities out there for homes and would like to, at least, help to steer the ship in the right direction. It’s not a good idea to focus in on just one place like Netflix, but there are also a few places that seem like impossibilities. That includes, for starters, major networks like ABC, Fox, or The CW. The live ratings simply aren’t good enough for a show like this to thrive there.

Can you make the case that Shadowhunters could be a good fit over at Syfy? Sure, especially when paired with The Magicians. We also wonder if a premium network like an HBO or a Showtime could benefit from a program that would suit a younger audience. Beyond that, the three major streaming homes including Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon are intriguing, and don’t forget that Disney has an upcoming streaming service, as well. Even Apple is looking for some original series of their own and Shadowhunters could be a good fit in terms of getting viewers in the door.
