Tonight, Fear the Walking Dead season 4 episode 7 continued to play around with time, and with that, we learned quite a bit about the stadium, Mel, and so much more.
For much of the past few weeks, one of the biggest theories out there surrounding Madison and her disappearance in the present is that maybe some other characters believe her to be dead. That’s just what makes the most sense given that they haven’t really tried to look for her at all.
The more that this episode went along, the more clear it felt as to how Madison could’ve died — thanks in part to her desperation to try to hold onto that stadium at all costs. It’s not necessarily something that she needed to do but still, it’s something that she opted for. Think of this as Rick and the prison on steroids … but also something that was VERY problematic the moment that trucks full of walkers turned up. She just should’ve listened to Mel; had she, she wouldn’t be in this position at all.
The moment that Madison saw all of those zombies arrive, and that her kids were in the parking lot, she decided to do her part in order to take action. We saw the fires and we sensed the despair, but in the end, that was really all we got. Her time tonight on the show ended with her listening to a radio message from Alicia.
Back to the other timeline
The episode concluded tonight with us drifting back to the stadium, which now seems to be walker paradise with them roaming ALL over the place. With that in mind, things are not looking too great for Madison.
Probably the best thing about tonight’s Fear the Walking Dead episode as a whole (let alone the entire season) is how it continued to play around with the idea of a mystery. It’s not something we’ve really gotten a lot of on The Walking Dead proper and it is, in part, how this show feels different.
