Succession episode 2 preview: What’s next on HBO series?

Succession season 1What’s coming up on Succession episode 2? If you enjoyed the story of family and media intrigue that was on HBO tonight, there’s a reasonably good chance you will appreciate some of what’s coming up next. It’s a chance to see the story build up and also some of the conflict between Logan and his children. There are debates regarding corporate ownership for one, and beyond that, we imagine that more are going to come as the legal process intensifies.

Succession as a series is very much a modern story when it comes to media and the stock market, but there is a part of it that feels almost Shakespearean. That’s what happens when, at the center of the show, you have a man whose presence is almost that of a tragic king.

Beyond, the episode synopsis gives you a good sense as to some of what’s going to be coming up next:

Logan’s incapacitation sets off a heated debate among his children, as the board rushes to inform the media about leadership contingencies before the stock market opens. Meanwhile, Greg is tasked with retrieving important items from the Roy apartment; Kendall makes an impassioned final plea to keep Waystar Royco in the family, and receives sobering news from longtime general counsel Gerri Kellman that dampens a moment of vindication.

One of the subjects that we’re going to get into in some subsequent posts on CarterMatt is the state of the ratings for Succession and with that in mind, we’re hoping for some rather-big things. This is a series that is airing following Westworld and in between that and some positive reviews, there is a lot of expectations for this to deliver. It could be one of the biggest hits within this sort of world since The Newsroom — though we know this series will have some key differences.
