Game of Thrones season 8: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau praises ending, whole journey

Game of Thrones

Will Game of Thrones feature a satisfying ending at the tail end of it? We imagine this being a question many people have for many more months. Once the finale airs, that debate will probably increase tenfold. There are few things people out there love more than arguing over a series finale, and there are very few out there that are universally loved. Some make bold, shocking decisions that leave viewers polarized, and some others try at least to do something that satisfies the majority of the audience.

When it comes to the HBO series, the thing that we’re imagining with the ending is that the writers are going to do everything in their power to establish some sort of closure — not everyone will likely be happy, but we cannot imagine David Benioff and D.B. Weiss taking you on this entire journey without wrapping up at least some of the main threads. There will always likely be some battling over the Iron Throne, but when it comes to the White Walkers, shouldn’t those be properly taken care of?

In speaking a little bit more on this subject in a new interview while at Cannes, the man behind Jaime Lannister in Nikolaj Coster-Waldau had the following to say:

“I also know that we end the right way and the show ends on its own terms. And when I read the scripts for the last season, I was like, ‘Wow, they really pulled it off.’ It’s one story from Season 1 to [the final season] and it makes sense.”

Of course, we know that actors on Game of Thrones are of course going to say a number of positive things about it, nobody is forcing them to do anything of the sort! There are still ways you can answer a question without sounding negative about it, so we do think that Nikolaj really is thrilled with the way in which the story ends.
