Should The Big Bang Theory season 12 be the season of Raj?
After all, just look where the character is in life at the moment — so many other characters have by now gotten either their happy ending or something reasonably close to it; unfortunately, for Kunal Nayyar’s character, there is still a sense of him waiting in the wings. He does have a good career for himself sorted out and beyond that, seems to have found a sense of self-sufficiency that he didn’t have earlier on in his life.
Yet, there are still question marks when it comes to love. The past two seasons have featured more of his dating life, but he’s never gotten to the point where an engagement is imminent. Maybe this is by design — in keeping Raj either single or relatively single, the writers are giving themselves a little more material to work with. If this turns out to be the final season, they can then do their part in order to figure out the best way in which to give this character a little more romance. If a season 13 happens, there may be some time in order for everyone to adjust accordingly.
One other thing that is interesting to keep in mind here is this: There is no guarantee that Raj is going to end up getting engaged to anyone at the end of the show’s run. That doesn’t happen with every person in life and there are some other ways in which to find happiness. Granted, if that happens for him, we just hope there is a good expression of it on the show so it doesn’t feel as though he is ending up alone — something that he certainly has not wanted for most of the series.
What we can say with confidence is this: Following the wedding of Amy and Sheldon and after seeing so many other character have at least part of their dream come true, Raj is the character we are the most intrigued about entering season 12.
