Ransom season 2 episode 9 preview: Is this Eric’s toughest negotiation yet?

Ransom season 2 episode 9 is airing on CBS in one week’s time, and based on the episode title alone in “Hardline,” you should have a pretty good sense as to precisely what Eric is up against. There is a reason why he is an expert in hostage negotiation — the word “negotiation” is front and center there! Often in order to achieve a result, there needs to be a little bit of flexibility there.

So what happens when he takes on a case where there is almost zero flexibility? That is the focus of next week’s new episode, which carries with it the title of “Hardline.” The Ransom season 2 episode 9 synopsis below gives you a little more of a sense as to what to expect:

“Hardline” – Eric is given the impossible task of negotiating the release of the daughter of the prime minister of the Netherlands – a woman who takes a public hardline on never paying kidnappers’ ransoms – on RANSOM, Saturday, June 9 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

The stance here is one challenge, but the other is that this is about as high-profile of a case as you’re going to find. If he doesn’t figure out a way to get this woman back, then he has to deal, effectively, with the anger of an entire country. That’s not the sort of pressure we would wish on anyone.

What are some of the latest ratings?

This seems like a good opportunity to give you an update on this, given that the future status of Ransom is still unclear and we don’t get the sense that CBS is in all that big of a hurry in order to announce the series’ future one way or another.

Unfortunately, at the moment we are very much worried about the show’s season 3 odds. Last week’s episode drew just a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and slightly over 2.1 million viewers — by far the lowest numbers Ransom has received to date. This isn’t all the series’ fault, given that Memorial Day Weekend is not a time in which there are many viewers around. However, we’re not sure how much the network really cares about some of that when making a decision.
