The Walking Dead season 9: Norman Reedus shares heartfelt Andrew Lincoln photo

Walking Dead

Following the reporters earlier this week that Andrew Lincoln is departing The Walking Dead at some point during season 9, most of his fellow cast and crew members have been rather quiet about the situation.

Why are there not more tributes out there? The simple answer that we can offer on that subject is that the exit of Lincoln is not technically official — with that in mind, we imagine that many of the different cast members on the series are doing their best to temper some of their opinions until it is. This is something that they will likely chime in on down the road, either after Lincoln leaves the show or at least after he officially comments on the subject himself.

With all of this said, we do have a new touching post from Norman Reedus, who will be sticking on the show (and with a significant pay raise) for the near future. The Twitter link below heads over to Reedus’ Instagram, where there is a moment of him and Lincoln embracing. While there is no official caption to the photo, this is clearly meant to be a reference to some of the stories that are out there.

While Reedus is certainly no stranger to The Walking Dead departures, this one has to be right up there with Chandler Riggs in terms of it being painful. Lincoln was the cornerstone for most of the story and was there from the beginning. We experienced this entire world for the first time through Rick’s eyes and it was his viewpoint that really guided us for at least the earliest portion of the show’s run. Rick is synonymous with the world of this show and losing him may be difficult for the series to recover from. Nevertheless, it still seems like they’re going to try. Reedus is fantastic and Daryl and he’s certainly not the sort of guy we would ever rule out.
