Timeless season 2 deleted scene features young Rudy Giuliani

Timeless season 2

While the team behind the scenes of Timeless may be very good at crafting stories in the past, they do not possess any sort of supernatural abilities — take, for example, being able to predict the future. That’s why they were unable to anticipate that Rudy Giuliani would become a fixture of headlines in 2018. It’s one thing to see familiar figures in the past, and it’s another thing altogether for them to take you out of the world of the show.

The latest deleted scene below from “The Day Reagan Was Shot” is actually more of a deleted moment from a larger scene in which young Agent Christopher explains her passion for law enforcement. There’s an appearance in the end here from a young Giuliani, who was an Associate Attorney General in the Reagan Administration. He is actually the person who introduced Denise to the FBI, which may be in turn how she got her start with the bureau.

In some ways, the scene is important since it helps to bridge the gap between some of Agent Christopher’s different paths in law enforcement; yet, it’s also understandable as to why it was cut. Giuliani is such a polarizing figure in 2018, and beyond just that watching this scene now immediately takes you out of the show and into present-day sentiments. (Timeless is not a political show, hence they don’t want to generate political reactions.) The writers note in the tweet below that they were concerned about it being distracting in the midst of an otherwise emotional moment — hence, why it was cut (along with time concerns).

This sneak peek is yet another reminder of everything that Timeless and the team are doing to score a season 3 renewal over at NBC. It’s been a good while now since the finale and yet, there is still no news — the show survived the Memorial Day Weekend guillotine, but the network can still effectively do whatever they want with the show.
