Gotham will season 5 will feature the Jim Gordon mustache you crave
Speaking per ComicBook.com recently, show executive producer John Stephens confirmed that the iconic mustache will be making an appearance over the course of the new season; as a matter of fact, Ben McKenzie is already working on growing it so that it’s authentic. We should note here that Gotham does start filming a little bit earlier in the summer than most other shows, so it’s not a situation here where Ben will show up on set in a few months sporting the biggest, most cartoonish ‘stache possible.
While probably a small deal in the grand scheme of things, the presence of the formal Jim Gordon mustache is a pretty clear signal that Gotham, in its final season, is really angling for something that is as close to the full-on Batman experience as possible — while also being cognizant of the fact that the name Batman has never been said on the show itself. That feels almost like the perfect thing to be referenced in the series finale rather than something to bust out in the premiere. What matters through the lens of the show is that we are getting really close to that transformation — most of the villains are not assembled and the show has built a world that feels overall at least similar to what it should given some of the characters that we have. There could still be a few notable names from the comics we meet (read more on that subject over here), but for now we’re more than content with some of the names that we do have.
