Are Roseanne actors interested in new project together?
Earlier today, we reported that there are some internal conversations from people involved over at ABC about continuing Roseanne in a slightly different form, one that would involve the actors all coming back to play new people within a new creative. Many of these actors already have contracts thanks to Roseanne, so why not just try to find another property for them? Given that these are really talented people including John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, and Laurie Metcalf, it may make sense for them all to say that they don’t want Roseanne Barr’s firing get in the way of bringing something new to the table.
Now, sources tell Deadline that within a few days, Gilbert and executive producer Tom Werner are going to meet with writers in order to determine what the future could hold. Sara and some other co-stars are apparently intrigued at the idea of coming back for more, provided that the right idea is presented that makes sense. You don’t want to just rip off Roseanne, but you also want to figure out something to do that is also going to be appealing to some of that same audience. Otherwise, what sort of potential is there? You have to realize, after all, that a new show would be a tremendous hassle, especially if Roseanne spends a lot of her time fighting on the subject via social media.
