Big Brother 20 rumors begin, so let’s revisit our philosophy on them

Big brother 20

Technically, Big Brother 20 is not premiering on CBS until we get around to June 27, but that is not stopping some particularly ambitious people from getting the jump on posting all sorts of crazy rumors when it comes to the show. We’ve seen already “cast lists” and the like, and we’re sure that things are going to get so much worse with these before they get better.

So with all of this in mind, and with us starting to enter this crazy time of year, it feels like the perfect opportunity to revisit Big Brother rumors and what they mean: Almost nothing. Zilch. People are not in sequester just yet, so why are we even bothering with this? Most of it just comes from over-enthusiastic people who want to get hyped about the start of the season and understandably so.

As a matter of fact, it would actually be a really bad thing if the vast majority of the cast was leaked this far in advance, given that it means that CBS would probably change the cast and a bunch of potentially-innocent people would have their dream snatched away from them of getting a chance to play. (Heck, we think there have been contestants on past seasons who have been scouted far less than a month before getting into sequester.)

Really, it can be fun to indulge in all of the mock cast lists, the scouting, the rumors, and all of that. Yet, it can also make your head hurt, and CBS has also done a decent job over the years of trying to keep things under wraps. Cast leaks have gone out here and there, but it’s not something to really stick your reputation on unless you are 100% sure that you are going to get some of your desired results.

So, for now, we won’t be posting rumors unless they are pretty close to confirmed. What we will be doing, however, is really getting into some full-fledged spotlighting of the Big Brother 20 cast as we get closer to the premiere date.
