Gotham season 5: The inspiration for one of the stories

Gotham
Is Gotham season 5 officially venturing into Batman territory? It may be a little bit premature to say that, but indications certainly suggest that the Fox series is going to be heading off in a direction that is a bit more familiar for fans of the comics.

For a little more insight on that, take a look at what executive producer John Stephens had to say recently on this subject to ComicBook.com:

“There’s gonna be a little bit of Zero Year in there, you know as well. [You know] some of that stuff, especially with Nygma. And there’s another one but if I tell you what it is it really does spoil the story.”

Zero Year is a prominent comic-book arc that revolves in part about one of Batman’s first formal missions to try and stop the Riddler from taking over the city. This could be the perfect story now based on where Gotham is at present. While we’ve seen a lot of the Riddler as the second-in-command, this could be a chance to really see him more of a typical Big Bad role. In general, though, Bruce has his work cut out for him given that he’s also got out there a wide array of villains including Oswald, Firefly, Mr. Freeze, Hugo Strange, and so many more. It’s also not entirely clear what’s going to happen to Lee Thompkins next and there’s certainly reason to fear that she turns into someone sinister and very different from the comics. Barbara Kean is also out there with her army, but we’re not entirely sure just yet where she is going to stand in the midst of the battle swirling around her.

Unfortunately, you are going to be waiting for a while to learn exactly what happens next, given that Gotham season 5 will not be premiering until the new year. Be sure to click here to see much of what we know now insofar as information goes!
