Trust season 2 renewal hopes for Brendan Fraser – FX series

Trust season 2

Following tonight’s finale over on FX, what are there chances of there being a Trust season 2? Is that something that we can really bank on or hope for?

We know that creatively, it’s something that we’d love to see happen — and not just because of our love for Brendan Fraser. This is a complex, thrilling show from executive producer Danny Boyle that has a lot more left in the tank story-wise — we just hope that there are some good opportunities coming up to see it happen.

We know that creatively, there is an interest in there being a Trust season 2 renewal — after all, Boyle himself is hoping for more. Speaking in an interview with Deadline earlier this year, executive producer Simon Beaufoy made it clear that he would like to go back and dive into the past of the first John Paul Getty in order to better understand precisely what makes him tick as a person:

“The idea is to go back to the 1930s to discover how John Paul Getty I became this extraordinary person with this huge hole in his soul.”

As for whether or not that will happen, we do think that it’s a toss-up. The live+same-day ratings for season 1 of Trust are okay at best, with the show generating on average a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and close to 600,000 viewers. The ratings have been fairly steady for the past several episodes, so we hope that this would at least give viewers a little more of a sense as to precisely how the show could fare coming up in the future. We think most of the loyal viewers from season 1 would be there and there is still potential for some more fans to find it through streaming over the course of the next year.

Also, of course we’re going to keep rooting for Fraser — any show that gives him a chance to be prominently featured on TV is something that we are going to get behind.

Once there is some more news on a Trust season 2 one way or another, we’re going to have more information for you here.
