Fear the Walking Dead season 4 ratings slip slightly entering Memorial Day holiday

Fear the Walking Dead season 4 episode 6

As many out there may know already, there is no new episode of Fear the Walking Dead this weekend due to the Memorial Day break. Yet, we do want to stop in for a moment and look at some of the latest ratings as we start to look towards the final couple of episodes before the show embarks on a longer hiatus.

At the moment, we’d say that the ratings are, by and large, rather mixed. The good news still is that season 4, on average, is performing better than season 3 — even if this past episode generated the lowest number of the season in a 0.8. What really matters here ultimately, though, is the simple fact that it seems like a larger percentage of critics care about Fear the Walking Dead as a series from week to week, and that’s something that it hasn’t really experienced within the first few seasons. We have said that season 3 was a creative revelation for the show, and this year has really kept that momentum going with some of the most ambitious storytelling that we’ve had a chance to see from the entire franchise to date. It feels like there is some great effort being put into making sure some of the stories are solid, smart, and well-cultivated. If this trend continues, we’re suddenly feeling quite optimistic that we will get a season 5 and beyond.

Basically, the warm reception towards season 4 is what makes us a little less concerned about the state of things commercially. Of course, it would be great of Fear the Walking Dead was generating better ratings just because every show of course wants better ratings. We suppose we just can’t be greedy — in some ways, we should be grateful that there isn’t an episode over Memorial Day Weekend since that would probably plummet the numbers down more than anything would.
