NCIS season 16: Does Mark Harmon see any end in sight?
Do we think that this show has the potential to at least tie Law & Order and Gunsmoke with twenty years on the air? Absolutely, but we don’t necessarily think that this is something that the cast and crew are focusing in on at the moment. That’s probably they are still several years away from that.
For Harmon, he seems to still be enjoying the ride that comes with playing Gibbs, and he’s happy to keep doing it — so much so it doesn’t seem that he is thinking so much about a specific end date in the process. Speaking in a new video posted recently by The Rich Eisen Show (see below), Harmon had the following message when asked about where this series can go from here:
“It’s been an exceptional ride with exceptional people, both in front of the camera and behind the camera. I still find a great challenge going to work there … I can of feel like it’s gifted ground to be appreciated. I think that you have an opportunity to keep inventing new things there and [keep growing] as a show. It’s not so much about how long it can go on; it’s about telling stories we feel still need to be revealed.”
Based on where the ratings are right now and CBS’ recent renewal, we do feel fairly confident that the show is going to make it to a season 17 — even though there are some challenges ahead including locking in a new forensic scientist for the team. (Maybe it will be Kasie, but that’s not confirmed just yet.) The show will return this fall with new episodes, and should officially begin shooting over the summer.
