Poldark season 4 spoilers: Are things better for George, Elizabeth?
It feels pretty darn fair to say that these two left off in a fairly interesting place, with Elizabeth deciding that she had enough of George’s rampant jealousy and controlling behavior. While she lied about her past with Ross, at the same time she managed to stabilize her marriage to Warleggan in a way that she hadn’t previously. They are now moving into the new season in a stronger, more comfortable place than they’ve been in quite some time — or at least they are at first. The thing that often happens with a show like Poldark is that things start off rather wonderful, and then as the season goes by you watch them slowly venture into the territory where everything starts to fall off a cliff.
Speaking (per Digital Spy) about the story that is coming up for George, the man behind the role in Jack Farthing had the following to pass along:
“We left him in a bad place, but I think we come to him post-recovery – he’s got back to his life and things with Elizabeth are great … He’s decided their relationship is going to be founded on trust and honesty. He’s not going to be jealous about other men.
“All of that terrible stuff he dealt with has gone. And it’s nice that they’re together, they’re a team.”
With this, they are also more equal in the marriage than ever before. George may submit to her will at times and vice-versa. This is good for their marriage, and we imagine that in some ways it may be troublesome for Ross since a good home life could aid George’s professional life as he moves up in the political world. He may think that he’s stronger when he is fully in control at home, but we don’t quite think that this is actually the case. It’s important to have someone who can put you in check and expose some of your flaws before someone does in a public, far more embarrassing manner.
