Marcia Gay Harden on Code Black season 3 cancellation

The Code Black season 3 cancellation is still one that we’re having a hard time digesting for a number of different reasons. For one, we thought the season started off strong; also, the ratings weren’t bad for a show premiering this time of year. While they could’ve been better, we don’t think that CBS really should have been expecting a whole lot more given the fact that this was a show airing in the spring, and for at least part of the season without much of a lead-in. This was not a show this year set up for success.

Yet, we are getting to get another season and that is something to be grateful about. CBS didn’t technically have to renew Code Black for a third season and in that sense, we’re happy that we get one more season and hopefully a fitting end. It certainly seems to be one that series star Marcia Gay Harden is happy with.

In reacting to the news of the show ending in a post on Instagram below, you can see what Harden has to say — she expresses gratitude for everyone watching, for the cast and crew, and to everyone who checked out the show over time. We imagine that the news of the show formally ending was not something that was a surprise to many people on the show, who likely understood this was coming from the moment they learned their premiere date. Alas, this is the end of this chapter, but we certainly hope that there is going to be another exciting one coming up in the near future.
