Siren finale ratings give Freeform reason to smile entering season 2
For starters, let’s kick things off here by looking at the total viewer count for this pivotal episode — nearly 660,000, which is the best performance of this series for a while. It’s the best performance for the show since the April 19 episode, which marked the halfway point of the show.
What does this mean? For starters, it shows that there’s enough of a loyal following out there who absolutely can’t miss watching the show live. That’s hugely important for the show’s second season, which was renewed a little while back.
It is still true that for a show like Siren, there are many other things that matter beyond just the live ratings, and that of course includes such things like DVR numbers, streaming data, and so much more. Most Freeform shows generate significant viewership after they come off the air and we have to believe on some level that the same sort of thing is happening here. The live ratings are just important for getting that immediate feedback and for the network to know that there are people right from the get-go who are invested enough in the series in order to check it out immediately.
IIs it possible that a season 3 could be ordered before the second season premieres? Maybe, but we’re certainly getting ahead of ourselves a little bit with the thoughts of this particular idea … but it would still be great. No matter what, Siren is positioned as well as a show like this can be for a second season, and we just hope that the enthusiasm that is there for it now is still there after we endure a pretty-long wait and the series returns with new episodes in 2019.
