How Supergirl season 3 episode 22 is setting up for a Reign showdown

Supergirl season 3 episode 13

Even though Supergirl season 3 episode 22 is not the final episode of the season, all signs at the moment still suggest that this episode is building things up towards one of the most dramatic showdowns that we’ve seen to date between Supergirl and Reign.

In this case, the title for the episode in “Make It Reign” really speaks for itself. We want to say judging from that alone that this episode could be the final battle between these characters, but given that there is one more episode beyond that it feels foolish to draw that sort of assumption. Yet, we do concede that it is somewhat of a possibility.

Based on some of what we’ve seen from season 3 already, a big part of what makes it different is that this is not your typical struggle with a hero in one corner and then a villain another. Instead, the villain here is someone that most of the heroes want to save. Nobody ultimately wants to see Samantha die, but the problem to date is that killing Reign also kills her. We think saving her is every bit the push moving into the end of the season as it is stopping Reign, and that is as a whole precisely what makes this season so different and, by extension, so interesting. There are many different avenues worth checking out as this season pushes forward in this story and we are certainly curious to see what they could be.

For now, what we know is that the new episode airing on Monday will feature the return of Erica Durance and with that, also a chance to see Kara unlock a huge surprise in her efforts to save Sam. It could offer up some clues, but also eventually lead her down the path to a very important decision.
