NCIS season 16: Could we meet some new characters?
The first order of business for the producers this off-season is probably finding a way to fill the void left by Abby, and we feel like the writers may already be looking to do that via Kasie. While it’s not confirmed that she is a full-time character just yet (they could still go in another direction), that character had a good trial run and definitely seems to have the inside track to being the new forensic scientist on the show.
As for who else they could hire, that is where things start to become a little bit murkier. Technically, the producers could opt to not bring in anyone to fill the void left by Clayton Reeves. Duane Henry did not appear in every episode, so in terms of pure screen time and his role on the team it’s a little different from Abby. With that being said, we liked Clayton and the energy he brought to the team — beyond that, we liked the fact that NCIS had this agent from the outside who could come in and add a different element to the cases. This is something that could be replicated whether it be via another MI6 agent, someone from CGIS, or another organization who could be of assistant to Gibbs and the team on a fairly-regular basis. It’s a chance to not only give another actor a try, but also to expand the universe in a few other interesting ways. There are still many different avenues that we would love to see NCIS explore — sure, this is a series that is a whopping 15 years into its run already, but we like to think that there is always a way in which they can try new things and push the envelope a little bit more.
