The Flash season 5 spoilers: Nora West-Allen and timeline reveals
Obviously, we know that Nora’s place in the timeline, provided she’s telling the truth about who she is (which we have no reason to doubt), at least when it comes to relative terms. Yet, in honing things down specifically there is a difference between Barry and Iris having kids tomorrow and having them five years from now. That also dictates somewhat the future of the show itself — if Iris is supposed to welcome Nora in two years, for example, that would mean that the pregnancy would need to be a storyline on the show.
Based on what executive producer Todd Helbing has to say on the subject of Nora’s arrival to Entertainment Weekly, coupled with how old Nora seems to be (we’re thinking early to mid-twenties, at most), we have a little bit of a clearer picture now:
“If you can imagine having one of your children showing up who’s already an adult, who’s around the same age as you, it’s gonna be a little weird for them … But there’s this huge emotional component of this finale — Iris makes a comment about how they’re next to have a kid, and then their kid shows up a little sooner than I think either of them were expecting and under quite a bit different circumstances. So it’s going to take a while for them both to get used to her being around. And then on top of it, there’s the complications of all the consequences that are going to come from her going back 30 years.”
So with this in mind, Barry and Iris become parents (at least provided that Nora is their first child) potentially around a season 9 or 10 of The Flash, depending of course on how the show tends to move through its own history. If there is a time jump it could come faster, but we don’t really see the value of hurrying along to meeting a baby version of Nora if we’re getting to see the adult version now.
