New Outlander actors celebrate casting news

We’ve had a good bit to discuss this week when it comes to Outlander, with one of the big things being the addition of a number of different cast members into the mix for season 4! Some of these actors may have already been filming the show, but they are now officially on board.

In a series of posts on Twitter below, you can see what Billy Boyd, Caitlin O’Ryan, Natalie Simpson, and Tim Downie had to say in regards to their inclusion on the series this season. There is something really fun about the way in which new cast members are welcomed into the show: It’s almost like becoming the part of a really big family where they are embraced by everyone on social media. Also, the great thing about this particular fandom is that they don’t relate actors to some of their characters. If someone does something terrible on the series, they won’t be criticized on social media for it after the fact. It’s a fun place to be (and probably a nice follower boost to go along with it).

Another good thing to note here is that some of these castings are just for the immediate future — some will be sticking around for at least a little while, at least in the event the show follows along the books.

So when could we see photos of some of these people in costume?

Be prepared to wait for a good while, given that this was not something that the producers were altogether eager to trot out there for the third season of the show, either. In some cases, we didn’t see images of some of the actors until right before the episodes aired. Starz likes to keep things tight-lipped on that front — if you’re lucky, maybe you will get a glimpse or two of some of these characters within the season 5 trailer.
