Survivor: David vs. Goliath season 37 title; theme details
So what does it mean? Like some other recent season titles, this one appears to be self-explanatory. It feels more like casting twist (see Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers) as opposed to something like Ghost Island. We don’t think this is so much about small, feeble people versus strong, powerful people — otherwise, we’d just see one tribe blown out week after week. It’s probably a little bit more abstract, with contestants who are loosely tied to the theme on various tribes competing with one another.
At this point, we’ve come to learn that casting twists really don’t mean all that much when you think about the actual story of the show itself — it’s really about the specific people that you have, and often the themes are established after a crop of castaways are selected. With this show, it is really more about finding the right people and then figuring out a theme than the other way around. (When that has flipped in the past, it’s typical led to an inferior show.)
This season will premiere more than likely in September, and with that, we figure the cast will be announced either at some point earlier in that month or in late August.
The preview
We saw this at the end of the reunion show, and it featured a few different cast members. The Davids are apparently people who have had many struggles in life and are underdogs. Meanwhile, the Goliaths have had really fantastic lives and have found great success. What matters when you’re out in the game? Well, let’s just say that everything in your past is out the window.
The castaways that we saw in the preview look fairly interesting and for now, we’re thrilled that it seems as though they are all newbies. This means that the game will continue to have fresh energy from people who aren’t necessarily jaded from past experiences. Think of it as an opportunity for more spirits to haunt Ghost Island in the future.
