Empire season 5 premiere date hopes for Terrence Howard, cast

Want to get some of the earliest Empire season 5 discussion right away? That is what this episode is, in particular, all about.

Let us kick things off here by reminding you that the Terrence Howard series has, in fact, been renewed already for a season 5. That was first confirmed earlier this year and it’s hardly a surprise. Empire remains one of the most successful shows on Fox and even with them scaling back on some of their scripted programming, there is very little evidence that they are putting this show out to pasture anytime soon. It and 911 are at the moment its most successful series.

Empire will come back this fall in the same timeslot as it had this year in Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. It will be followed once more by STAR and while not confirmed at the moment, it is reasonably fair to wager that the two shows will adopt a reasonably similar format to what we saw this year. There will be a batch of episodes this fall, followed then by another batch airing in the spring. With these shows doing 18-episode seasons, that does enable Fox the opportunity to air something during the off months and have a solid lineup of original programming for most of the year. The premiere date for season 5 will likely be late September / early October, given that this allows the show the opportunity to get at least through half of their episodes before the holidays, even when you throw the World Series hiatus in there.

So what could the future be for Empire beyond season 5? It may be too early to tell and some of it could end up being based on some of the ratings. Nonetheless, there is a reason to have some confidence in a season 6, given that most television actors tend to sign contracts that are at least this long. After that, the waters could become murkier but that’s all so far down the road that it feels reckless to over-speculate on it right now.
