The Flash season 5: Will we learn more about Nora West-Allen’s visits?

At the end of The Flash season 4 finale on The CW on Tuesday night, we were all a little more formally introduced to Nora West-Allen — Barry and Iris’ daughter a.k.a. the Mystery Girl. It wasn’t so much a shock that this was her identity, but what was a little more surprising was learning why she’s been turning up. It’s a little less about her wanting to see more of her parents earlier in their lives and more about her making a mistake that needs to be corrected.

So how are Barry and Iris going to handle having their daughter around all of a sudden … and why didn’t she just reveal to them who she was sooner so that she could help? These are questions that we may get more of next year judging from what executive producer Todd Helbing had to say via TV Guide

Next season we’ll sort of explain the times — why she chose those times to come back to visit — and then ultimately what the mistake is. I’m sure, as you can imagine, meeting your daughter who’s essentially the same age as you would have some emotional reactions. With Barry and Iris, as you saw in the finale, Iris made that comment, “We’re next,” and Barry seemed a little apprehensive about jumping into having children so early. Then, less than a minute later, he meets his future daughter, so yeah, it’s a little shocking to them. Just as Barry’s learned all the lessons that he learned from time travel and the consequences of it, it’s going to be interesting for him to be on the other side of it when he learns about what Nora’s done and what problems are coming because of it.

In general, be prepared to see family become a big theme for season 5 given that Joe and Cecile are now parents, Barry and Iris suddenly have a grown-up daughter, and we wonder if we’re going to be learning more about Caitlin’s father in the aftermath of what was hinted at over the final few episodes of the show. Along the way, we will have some other surprises!
