Survivor: Ghost Island finale: Who are the likely returning players?

Survivor: Ghost Island cast

Tonight, the Survivor: Ghost Island finale is coming onto CBS and with that in mind, we’re busting out one of our old favorite story features: Talking about possible returning players! It’s funny to discuss it in a sense, given that we tend to favor new players versus returnees, but it is an interesting discussion point late in the season as we start to look at some of the most successful castings on a given season.

Below, you can see some of our personal picks for a wide array of different reasons — some are based on strategy, some personality, and some potential to have a good second outing if they have an opportunity to come back.

Likely to return

Domenick Abbate – If he’s interested, he is going to be there as the charismatic mastermind-type player. He’s been so dominant this time, thought, that we wonder if he’s capable of doing a similar game again.

Donathan Hurley – Producers have to love what Donathan is bringing this season in that he’s a Survivor wrecking ball in terms of blowing things up and he’s got a great story and background as well. While we’re not sure we see him winning given where he stands in the numbers, he does have upside to go far in another season and be an even stronger contender then.

Strong possibilities

Michael Yerger – He’s athletic, likable, and he played the game hard. He didn’t make it super-close to the end but in his case, we don’t think that this really matters much.

Kellyn Bechtold – If the show is interested in casting serious game-players, Kellyn is someone who could really do well in her second time and learn from some of her mistakes. Even in this season, we think Kellyn could have won if a couple of different things went different.

Stephanie Johnson – Out of all of the pre-merge boots we think that Stephanie is probably the one producers were the most sad about. She has the enthusiasm to do well in this game and this time around, she fell victim mostly to a bad twist. We think that she could be back.

Wendell Holland Jr. – If he wins the season or loses by a vote or two, we see his odds rising. As it is, though, the biggest thing that is probably holding Wendell back is just that he doesn’t have the giant personality of Domenick.

It could happen

Desiree Afuye – The way that she went out alone justifies consideration, even if she didn’t make a huge impact on the show before that.

Bradley Kleihege – If he went further this season, we could see him coming back as a potential villain; as it is, though, it would probably depend on the theme.
