The Terror season 2 a long ways off, if it happens at all
The first thing to note here is the most obvious thing: The Terror season 1 has a defined beginning, middle, and end, and there was never a plan to continue the story of the Franklin Expedition beyond this season. Sometimes, things are better when you just have a defined beginning, middle, and end … and that seems to be precisely what you are going to be getting here.
Yet, this doesn’t necessarily have to negate the potential for there to be another season of this show down the road! As a matter of fact, we would argue that there could be some interesting ways in which The Terror season 2 could be done, at least in terms of taking on some other legends that have been told over the course of history. The challenge would be finding an era and a legend that hasn’t been told a million other times. For example, we really don’t need to see this show do a retelling of Dracula or Bigfoot. It would also need to be done by a different creative team; as previously reported, the showrunning team on board now is set to depart.
If we do end up getting a chance to see a second season of this show in some other form, we’re probably going to be waiting at least a year or two. For starters, you need a story — after that, you have to assemble a cast who could match the greatness that we had this time around. We understand the desire to replicate the success of this show, but we almost feel like unless you get most of the same cast on board, you’re probably better off to just call the show something completely different. No other show should have to handle the pressure of following up this season!
