American Idol season 17 premiere date expectations on ABC
It is absolutely worth noting first and foremost that there will be an American Idol season 17 on the other side of the finale tonight. After all, this was not always a sure thing. When ABC decided to acquire the show following its airing on Fox, it was a big financial and creative risk. After all, they are paying an extreme amount of money to the judges and also host Ryan Seacrest. Beyond just that, they were banking on a format that is well over a decade. While there were some changes to the American Idol format in season 16, it by and large was the same show that we had once seen. The ratings weren’t through the roof, but they were good enough to justify another order.
In terms of the American Idol season 17 premiere date, we don’t anticipate any huge changes. It makes sense for ABC to premiere the show after the end of the Academy Awards, especially if they keep it on Sundays. They don’t want to be in a situation where they have to take more than a week off of the air because of other competition that is out there. If they do that, they run a greater risk of losing viewers. Meanwhile, the first two months of the year in general are extremely crowded. Our anticipation is that season 17 will start off at some point in March. The judges and Seacrest of all already confirmed their return.
While we hesitate to say that American Idol as a series is going to go on forever now on ABC, it doesn’t seem as though there is an immediate end in sight based on where the show is right now and where it can also go moving into the future. Because of the way in which the talent pool is constructed now, this show can always find prospective contestants who took part in other shows previously, in addition to singer to are just starting to age into the process. That is why one of them successful group that you see on some of these shows are the teenagers. They haven’t been combed through on other reality shows yet.
