Animal Kingdom season 3 episode 1 spoilers: Baz fights for his life
The first episode of this season carries with it arguably one of the most ominous titles possible in “The Killing” — which probably doesn’t bode all that well for Baz given that the cliffhanger at the end of season 2 put his life in jeopardy. Over this episode there may be some more opportunities in order to learn about his condition, but also just how Smurf is still going to try to be an adviser, if nothing else, behind bars.

Baz (Scott Speedman) fights for his life as the Cody boys figure out what their next move is in the aftermath of the shooting. Smurf (Ellen Barkin) gets some surprising news in jail and fields an offer from Pearce (Gil Birmingham).
The promo below helps to raise a few other interesting questions coming up about some of these characters, with one of the largest ones we have being precisely what’s going to happen with Smurf over the remainder of this season. She may be doing a good job advising the boys to be in charge, but do you really think that she is going to spend the remainder of the series locked away in jail? That just doesn’t seem likely.
This preview also does tease the arrival of Denis Leary as a character who will likely stir up some trouble further amidst the family. With money starting to run dry, there will be questions as to whether or not it’s time to pull a job. With these characters and their past, it’s fair to say that said job is coming; yet, on the other side of it we do wonder if everyone is going to be trapped in some sort of state of misery.
