The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel renewed for season 3 by Amazon
The renewal, per Variety, came following show executive producer Amy Sherman-Palladino talking about it while receiving a Peabody Award. At that same event Amazon’s Jennifer Salke confirmed that said season 3 renewal would be coming, meaning that you’re going to see quite a bit more story coming up about a former housewife (Rachel Brosnahan) who, after her marriage starts to crumble, takes on a career in stand-up comedy during the 1950s. This is a show that does have a lot of humor to it, but it doesn’t feel right to label it just a comedy since there is so much more it brings to the table. It has a modern sensibility despite its era, and we do think that it speaks to a lot of issues and themes that are going on at the moment all around the world.
This renewal comes before the second season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel even comes on the air, and that in itself should be a rather large piece of evidence in regards to what makes this show so great — and how much faith Amazon has in it. After all, we’re talking here about a series that has completely delivered in terms of creativity and heart. Sherman-Palladino is one of the best showrunners out there and we certainly do think that Amazon should want to keep her locked in for quite some time.
We’ll have a little bit more news on a potential second season the moment that we’ve got some more information all about it. For now, though, be sure to celebrate that we are getting to see more of these characters in action.
