When could Saturday Night Live season 44 premiere?
There are probably going to be many different dates floating out there for some time, but as of right now we’ll go ahead and circle two: September 29 and October 6. More than likely, the series will return on one of those two dates. There will probably be a little bit of cast turnover in that time but we don’t really see a whole lot else changing. This is a show that has really made consistency a part of its bread and butter — while it does often evolve from one season to the next, you never see the series make any sort of sweeping changes. Everything is a little more subtle and the focus is mostly on delivering the best overall product imaginable.
Now, we don’t think it’s too early to also ponder over the question as to who will be the first host of the season. Chris Pratt has done it before and given the premiere of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, it’s fair to think that he could be in this position again. We also wouldn’t rule out Paul Rudd from Ant-Man and the Wasp or maybe Mila Kunis from The Spy Who Dumped Me, with appearances from Sam Heughan and Justin Theroux. Often the first host is either a former cast member or someone who is coming off of a big summer — a lot will depend on the success of some of the movies and also the appeal of some of these stars from SNL viewers. It’s possible that the show goes with a more unconventional host, but usually for the first show Lorne Michaels likes to have someone who is familiar to viewers from the past few months. Think akin to Margot Robbie or Ryan Gosling from the past couple of seasons.
