Shadowhunters season 3 will have more Simon – Izzy stories in second half
If you are interested in getting a little more insight into what some of this material could be, just take a look at what executive producers Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin had to say via TVLine:
“In 3B, we really explore their relationship in a way we haven’t yet. Sizzy fans worldwide will unite and be really pleased. Again, it’s about patience and the slow burn, but it’s burning brighter. Their friendship is so special. In [this finale], she saw Simon at his lowest point in that waiting room scene. The way he collapses into her arms just broke our hearts. It was his great acting, but it was also their chemistry.”
The reason why this dynamic is captivating to us as a viewer is because there may be a special sort of vulnerability present here. Just think about things in this particular sense — with Izzy, you have a character who has experienced a lot of pain courtesy of her addiction and other issues from her past. She knows what it is like to be so low, and with that, she can help Simon in a way that potentially few others can. Meanwhile, Simon is experiencing something with his mother that is incredibly painful — knowing that his mother is still out there and being forced to recognize that he cannot have a relationship with her. This means that he is in a rather different situation than many other characters.
