Arrow season 7: Will the Longbow Hunters be new Big Bads?
For starters, the finale chose to do something that we haven’t seen a season of Arrow do in quite some time: Keeping a Big Bad alive. Ricardo Diaz is still out there, and to go along with that he may be on his way towards building this group of baddies designed with the purpose of destroying the Green Arrow. There are many familiar faces in the comic book who are a part of this, but it’s a little unclear at present what the constitution of it would be on the show given actor availability and also character needs. While having a number of main villains as opposed to one can be problematic, we don’t dislike it as much when you already know some of those villains and they’re around for a whole season. What made it tough for Arrow this seaosn was that you didn’t know all of the villains in advance.
Speaking to TVLine, outgoing showrunner Marc Guggenheim made it clear that the reference to the Hunters in the finale was intentional — though he also stopped short of proclaiming them the Big Bads:
“I will say that the reference to the Longbow Hunters is us planting a flag, much the same way we referenced Damien Darhk in the Season 3 finale. We would be [not nice people] to name-drop the Longbow Hunters and not see them in Season 7.”
Arrow season 7 will feel different in many different ways, given that Beth Schwartz is now in charge and you’re also going to have Colton Haynes as a series regular. There are so many changes that you will have to adapt for, and our hope is that all of them amount to one of the better seasons of the show. Kirk Acevedo was one of the best parts of season 6 so we’re certainly excited to see what’s next for him with this show.
