The Flash season 4 finale photo: Is Marlize helping Team Flash?

The Flash season 4 finale on The CW Tuesday night seems to be about many different things, but allegiances is pretty far up on the list. Barry now realizes that if he wants to stop The Thinker, he is going to have to do more than just go it alone. Instead, he’s going to need to rely on many different people, including some who were at one point foes. The photo above is proof.

This brings us over to Marlize DeVoe, Clifford’s one-time great love who left him a few episodes back. She started to realize that the man’s quest for knowledge had left him mentally corrupted, really to the point where he was not the same person he once was anymore. This is her chance for Marlize to better find herself and the person she was before Clifford. She used to be someone who wanted to use technology to make the world better and not so much someone desperate to take it away from people out of a fear of trust. She wants to be able to restore the sense of humanity to America again, which is certainly a lofty goal but also a possible one within the world of The Flash.

Beyond Marlize, the photo seems to strongly suggest that this upcoming episode is going to give Cecile the most prominent role that we have had a chance to see in terms of stopping Clifford in his tracks. She’s started to develop powers during her pregnancy where she can inhabit the minds of other people. If there is a way to use this so that she can think what The Thinker is thinking (that’s a mouthful to read out loud), then she may be able to give the team a leg up. Of course, there’s also a major complication here in that, judging from the hospital bed in the photo, she may be about to give birth.

Beyond the battle with DeVoe the finale is set to introduce formally the identity of the Mystery Girl, which to date has been one of the series’ best-kept secrets.
